Highland Trout Angling Services - Coaching and GuidingJim Quigley is a highly experienced professional game angling instructor who holds the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Angling, awarded by 1st4sport in partnership with the Joint Angling Development Board (JADB)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Child Awareness and Protection training
  • Enhanced Disclosure from the C. R. B. / Disclosure Scotland to enable him to also teach children and vulnerable adults
  • Member of The Salmon and Trout Association (S&TA)
  • Member of The Game Angling Instructors Association (GAIA)

Jim has been the resident angling guide at North Third Trout Fishery, Stirling for nearly 20 years.

Whether you are a complete beginner looking for some friendly, expert casting tuition and advice on tackle, or a more experienced angler wishing to add an extra few yards to your cast, Highland Trout will address your particular needs. Existing casting faults can be easily diagnosed and rectified. Casts taught include: - Overhead cast, roll cast, single and double hauling, reach cast and slack line casts.

Jim is also an experienced float tuber and can explain and demonstrate the procedures and techniques involved in this fascinating and productive mode of fly fishing.

As an inclusive organisation, enquiries from women and children are warmly welcomed and encouraged.

In the interests of safety, casting pupils should equip themselves with caps and glasses.
